Can you negotiate price with sellers?

Price negotiations are possible for items on JDirectItems Auction, Rakuten Rakuma, Mercari JP, and Yahoo! Flea Market.
As the procedure varies by platform, please see details below on how this works:
JDirectItems Auction
You can negotiate a price reduction for JDirectItems Auction items.
To do so, please contact customer service with:
- Auction ID or URL
- The amount you wish to negotiate too (in Japanese yen)
* Significant price reductions are not allowed (negotiations up to 30% off the original price are acceptable).
* Some sellers may not accept price negotiations due to their own policies.
* If the JDirectItems Auction ID you negotiated with (i.e. the From Japan account used to contact the seller) differs from the bidding ID that is automatically assigned when you place a bid, please contact customer service again.
* Please do not contact the seller directly when using our service.
Rakuten Rakuma/Mercari/Yahoo! Flea Market
Firstly, please take into account the below conditions for negotiation:
- The item must be priced 10,000 JPY or higher.
- The maximum allowed discount is 10% off the displayed price.
Should your item meet these conditions, follow the below steps for Price Negotiation:
(1) When on the item page, before adding the item to your shopping cart, please enter your request, including the below, into the "Comments section":
- Type out your request, including the amount you wish to negotiate too (in Japanese yen)
- Please also inform your preferred action should negotiation fail (cancel/refund OR purchase for full price.
(2) Add the item to your shopping cart, and proceed with charge 1 payment.
(3) Our staff will review your request and proceed to negotiate with the seller.
(4) Once the seller responds, we will either purchase the item or update you on the outcome.
* Negotiations are handled in order, so the item may sell out while we are negotiating. For popular items, we recommend purchasing them without negotiation.
* If the negotiation is successful, we will refund the price difference to your original payment method after purchase.
* If the seller does not respond within 3 days or the negotiation fails, we will contact you again.
* If you submit Charge 1 payment without filling in the "Comments" section, price negotiation and seller inquiries will not be processed and the item will be purchased at full price.
* If you request a price negotiation without specifying a desired discount amount, we will automatically negotiate for 10% off.
* Some sellers may not accept price negotiations based on their own policies.
* If you have questions for the seller, please contact customer service without proceeding to the charge 1 payment.
* For checking item condition only, simply add the item to your cart and do not proceed to the charge 1 payment. Please then contact customer service with the order number and contacts of your question to the seller.
