I paid with deposit—why wasn't the refund returned there?

Last Updated:

After a deposit is added, it will be automatically settled under the following conditions:

If a full or partial refund occurs after the deposit has been settled, the amount will be refunded directly to your credit card or PayPal account.

Settlement will occur in the following cases:

  • When the 20-day deposit holding period has passed

  • When the deposit balance remains at 0 yen for 3 business days

Note:
You can avoid automatic settlement by adding a deposit that slightly exceeds the invoice amount.

For example, if you add a deposit of ¥10,001 for a ¥10,000 item and maintain a remaining balance of ¥1 for more than 3 business days, even if the order is canceled within the 20-day holding period, the refund will be returned to your deposit balance. You can then use it immediately for another payment.

If multiple deposits are used for a single invoice, any refunds will be processed separately for each deposit.

Example:
If you pay for a 10,000 yen item using the following three deposits, you will receive three separate refunds:

  • Deposit ①: 5,500 yen

  • Deposit ②: 3,999 yen

  • Deposit ③: 501 yen

You can check your deposit usage history [here].
